Regarding Qatar’s involvement, Mr. Al Thani clarified that Qatar has been in contact with all parties, including Israel, other countries, and Hamas, to urge calm and mediate the release of hostages. He expressed concern about false narratives circulating in the media, creating obstacles for constructive mediation efforts. He debunked claims that Qatar funds and sponsors Hamas, stating that Qatar’s engagement with the Hamas political office in Doha serves as a channel for indirect communication, not an endorsement.

Furthermore, Mr. Al Thani emphasized Qatar’s transparent humanitarian efforts. Qatar provides direct aid to Palestinian families and supplies electricity to Gaza’s population. All aid distribution is coordinated with Israel, the U.S., and United Nations agencies, ensuring strict guarantees and controls.

The ambassador highlighted the successful release of several hostages, underscoring the effectiveness of Qatar’s policy of engaging with all sides. He called for prioritizing the avoidance of civilian casualties and the release of hostages, emphasizing that open communication channels are essential for achieving lasting peace.
