UK – Terror has gripped the people of Reading in the latest of knife attacks that had occurred on a Saturday night which led to a full on raid preceding the vicious assault that had left 3 dead and 3 wounded.
Dean Haydon leads the charge as the main coordinator of the investigations with the combined efforts from the police and the counter-terrorism division.
The detective along with the local police stated that there is still no known motive for the stabbings but said it was believed the assailant had served time in an English prison for a past minor offense.
The attacker was said to be Libyan and had entered Reading’s Forbury Gardens Park with an intent to harm as many people as possible with a knife.
The small town to the west of London is said to be a multicultural hovel for all kinds of people and ethnicity, making the attacks devastating to the town’s people when they had found out of the knife attacks on finding the police cordoned roads to the park and put up police tents in an effort to corral the site of the killings.
On Saturday evening, the knife-wielding assailant was said to have walked up to a crowd of 10 people and proceeded to stab three of them under the arms and the neck while shouting in what Lawrence Wort, a survivor of the incident said were “unintelligible words” as he proceeded on his attack, injuring 3 more.
In short response time, officers in heavy armor and weaponry raided the suspect’s apartment that laid a mile away from the scene of the incident, evacuating the building as they used flash bangs.
No word has been thoroughly released of the attacker or what made him commit the act of terror but Prime Minister Boris Johnson entered meetings on Sunday morning to speak to the police force, the security officials and senior ministers for a briefing on the ongoing investigation.
This would not be the first time that the UK has had knife attacks as 2017 had seen the worst combinations in random assaults with knives and a suicide bombing of an Ariana Grande concert that had killed 22 people.
The idea of terrorism returning has put many on edge as the current threat level in Britain stands mid way of a 5 rung scale with the level set at “Substantial”.
Many believe that it is only a matter of time before another attack might occur.
