The account @kanyewest had been suspended for violating policies on hate speech, bullying, and harassment. This means that Kanye West will not be able to post on his gird or stories, comment on other peoples photos, or send direct messages.

Earlier in the day, the musician reportedly posted a photo of comedian Trevor Noah and captioned it with lyrics to the song “Kumbaya” replaced by racial slur against Black people, after Noah expressed concern that West was harassing his former wife Kim Kardashian. “You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous,” Noah said, before noting that despite being “one of the most powerful, one of the richest women in the world,” Kardashian is still “unable to get her ex to stop texting her, to stop chasing after her, to stop harassing her.” “But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch,” he continued. “And it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”

Per CNN, Kanye’s offensive comment has since been deleted, but Meta is apparently ready to take additional steps if he continues to violate their terms of use.

Social media networks like Instagram and Twitter have at times struggled with moderating hateful content or harassment. Meta privately worried last year that the company wasn’t doing enough to take down hateful content. A whistleblower in October also said Meta knew about potential harm Instagram was causing to the mental health of young people, for which it recently added parental controls.
