India – Anti-Chinese sentiment has been on the rise in the large continent of India as the clash at the borders between the two brought about a shift in mindset for the Modi administration that felt China was enjoying bullying its neighbors while the neighbors were enjoying paying a fortune to Chinese owned companies.

The government issued a ban of 59 Chinese apps that killed the platform use of WeChat and the famous TikTok media app.

There were talks in the government about the Chinese Government using data taken from the apps and in order to protect the country’s sovereignty and integrity, they had to stop all their citizens from using Chinese-made apps.

Beijing expressed that they were severely concerned with the implemented ban.

The Chinese government had been making bold moves as of late, amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic with such steps as declaring the new Hong Kong Security Law to kill any democratic notions in the island, breaking a promise it made with the British government in 1997.

The latest was deploying troops to the Himalayan region of Ladakh and entering a skirmish with the Indian troop who were said to have lost 20 border patrol officers killed amidst the undeclared number of Chinese casualties.

A call-to-arms was pushed by the Indian government shortly after to boycott all Chinese goods while the Indian business sectors were to cancel all deals and contracts made with any Chinese company.

The ban impacted the people, however, who had used these platforms to propel themselves into celebrity even from remote villages but as the ban occurs, the Chinese app makers ask that India also understand that they abide by international and local law regulations and that it was the government’s duty to uphold the laws, even if they were Chinese.

The Chinese government, realizing the large market they would lose, are asking India to reconsider its decision.

The Indians working in China have also voiced the concern that China’s apps only work in China and that the apps like WeChat in order to speak to their families back home, with the directive posing a problem for them in bad ways..

The strategy was implemented with hopes it lessens data leakage as well as impact the Chinese app market with severe losses.
