United States – COVID- 19 has recently shaped the voter’s mind as more cases of infection occur daily with the government not having enough resources to stop the pandemic growth.
President Donald J. Trump played to the masses when he declared on March 18 that he was a self-proclaimed “wartime president” who was against an invisible adversary in the Pandemic, citing his right to invoke the Defense Production Act that only saw him lose more and more Americans per day in what would be deemed as “casualties of war.”
Almost 150,000 Americans had lost their lives to the pandemic as President Trump recently tried to utilize the DPA act to mandate companies to produce more masks (N-95 respirators) and other protective gear to meet the demand of the American population while forcing other companies to give directives to their employees to operate in their plants albeit providing all the necessary safety and security measures to be deemed COVID-19 prepared.
The government, however refused to cite that they would be the providers of the safety protocol equipment, leaving the companies to shoulder the safety costs of their employees amidst the financial crisis.
Recently, voting favor has shifted with the weeks of increasing COVID-19 numbers as Presidential Election Runner Joseph R. Biden outgrew the gap between current President Trump by a margin of 2.5 percent. These bump ups are recorded to occur whenever a state suffers tragic loss of lives due to COVID-19 , blaming the slow response of the government to attend to the state medical needs.
Psychology suggests that this shift in numbers comes from studies gathered during past war times in which residents of the state hold the government accountable whenever they have people from their state killed in action. This was proven from the war in Afghanistan to as far back as the Civil War where the government was blamed for the unnecessary deaths of American citizens.
Republicans are now threatened by the loss in voter support as Mr. Trump reflects their party and with each death, lose control of the republican voter population.
The Black Lives Matter movement and the scandal regarding President Trump’s Trump-Pence Facebook page has been slowly spelling out the downfall of the president’s credibility among the American people, Democrat and Republican, as the COVID-19 months slowly amass more resistance to Mr. Trump’s re-election.
The U.S Presidential elections are less than a 100 days away and many Americans plan to vote even earlier with majority of the people holding the president and his Republican party accountable for the deaths that the Pandemic had caused.
The Republican Party now seek ways to repair the weakening favor before the elections as Joe Biden will gain more ground in the projected months ahead.
